Challenges Face by Secondary School Administrators While Ensuring the Quality of Teaching
Abstract
The substantive purpose of this study was to identify the challenges school administrators encounter in maintaining teaching quality in secondary schools, with a specific focus on public institutions in Punjab. School administrators play a critical role in promoting effective teaching practices, which significantly influence students' academic performance and personal development. However, they face several barriers, including inadequate resources, difficulties in recruiting and retaining qualified teachers, and inefficiencies in evaluation systems. Adopting a constructivist paradigm and a phenomenological qualitative approach and develop instrument keeping in view challenges and National Professional Standards of Teaching Quality. This study focused the lived experiences of ten public school administrators in province Punjab using semi-structured interviews. Thematic analysis was done to identify and categorize key challenges, providing a nuanced understanding of the complexities administrators face. The findings offer actionable insights for policymakers, educators, and stakeholders to optimize resource allocation, improve teacher retention, and create effective evaluation and professional development systems. Ultimately, this research seeks to enhance teaching quality and promote equitable educational outcomes in secondary schools.
